Giant Smallmouth Bass During the Fall in Extreme Wind on the St. Joe River with Umbrella Rig

Nearly 22 pounds of smallmouth bass were caught on umbrella rigs on the St. Joe River in St. Joseph, Michigan. Our 5-fish limit of 21.73 pounds won the R & B Bass Circuit Open Tournament despite winds gusting over 40 miles per hour.

This tournament took place during the fall as a massive cold front came through. Water temperature was in the low 50’s.

All fish were caught with Shane’s Baits Mini Blades of Glory umbrella rigs matched up with Lochness Lures Nessie swimbaits and 1/8 ounce Thoraks swimbait jigheads.
