Went to my favorite smallmouth bass stream and the water was muddy like chocolate milk. I wasn’t to be deterred so decided to use a bait that could get the attention of both largemouth and smallmouth. Topwater walking baits like Zara Spooks rarely work well in muddy water so I decided to pull out the buzz bait. Since I’ve fished this area for many years I had a good idea of where the fish would be. I suggest using a trailer hook so you wont miss short striking fish. You can use this same pattern in other Ohio streams like the Muskingum River, the Great Miami River, the Maumee River, the Ohio River and more. The bait I was using was a 1/4 ounce white and chartruese buzz bait with a gold blade.
